Question

I've had a Firestudio Project for a few years now, but haven't really used it to it's fullest potential.  Essentially what I'm wanting to do is mic my acoustic drums and monitor them through my in ear monitors (be able to practice with the drums sounding really good while still protecting my hearing).  I'm currently using Apple Logic X on an iMac  (processor - 4 GHz Intel Core i7, Memory 32 GB 1600 MHz), but want to know if there is an easier way to accomplish my goal.  In Logic X, I'm having a slight latency issue and it seems to get worse when I add any EQ or plug-ins of any sort to make the drums sound better (EQ'd sound in real time).  I was looking at possibly purchasing a Soundcraft ui16 which has a WIFI router that can connect to an iPad or iPhone for a digital mixing app.  Is this something that the Firestudio Project can do?  I don't want to purchase anything else if I already have what I need.  Thank you.

Latency is the nature of all computer processing.  Any audio monitored thru software and processed by plugins will be subject to the time delay involved with computer processing.  

The FireStudio uses Universal Control to create a mix of any input withe DAW returns for monitoring purposes.  This mix is heard in real time.  

For drums, I'm sure you want good response time with little to no latency.  Honestly, an outboard mixing console may suit you better.  It will allow you to process EQ and create a real time monitor mix.
