I've just installed Studio One 3 on my laptop. I don't have an expensive audio interface nor do I intend to get one. How do I just make it play on my laptop speakers? The playback device is already set to Windows audio (I'm on windows 10).

For your laptop, the first thing to check to make sure your volume is turned up. Seems silly to say that, but you have to check it in your taskbar volume icon and/or with the embedded volume up / down or mute buttons. If you have headphones plugged into your laptop, audio may not play out of your speakers because the headphone cancels the speakers.

If you have an external monitor connected over HDMI or Display Port, open up your Windows Sound Control Panel and make sure your default audio playback is set to your on-board audio the HDMI Output or Display Port which also carry audio even if your monitor doesn't support it, you may still see levels next HDMI bouncing even though nothing's connected to it.

Make sure the audio output in the Mixer for Studio One is also set to your Main Outs, if your Control panel had HDMI set as it's default, then Studio One will also go there.

Click on the text at the top edge of the fader to select your output.

If none of this is helping, then open a support ticket through your https://my.presonus.com account so a support tech can help you get sorted out.
