Assuming the microphone can be seen by Windows or the Mac (core audio) you can use it to record.
You can use the Windows audio to listen back, or the Macs internal speakers (or headphones).
Most people use external interfaces for the higher quality mics/speakers, but it can be done without an Audiobox interface. (S1 supports a ton of mics/interfaces/playback devices, if they work with Windows or Core audio.)
