Apogee Element 46 (no midi I/O connection) compatability with Presonus Digimax Dp88

How do I control preamp volumes etc from the PreSonus Digimax Dp88, being the Apogee Element 46 the interface connected to the DAW. The apogee element does not have midi I/O connection, only optical connection. I suppose I have to connect the presonus to the apogee through the optical input and output, and the preamps from the Presonus will be controlled through the Apogee software.

Thank you very much for your help.

Only PreSonus Studio 192 and Quantum products can remotely control the DP88 Preamps over ADAT Lightpipe.

For 3rd party interfaces such as your Apogee, you'll need to acquire a USB to MIDI Interface to connect from your computer to the DP88 MIDI Inputs. Then from within your DAW you can send MIDI Commands to control it.

Review page 5 in the DP88 user guide to see MIDI Commands:
