In the pattern editor Clicking on the velocity automation lane sends a note over the MIDI port but it auditions a note at an arbitrary velocity value 102 instead of what you click. You can confirm this in the MIDI MONITOR. So if you click at the bottom for velocity: 10 it will sound a note over your MIDI port of 102.
