Studio Channel Does Not Respond to Mic or Instrument Inputs

I recently pulled my old Studio Channel out of storage to try it with a modified recording setup. It fires up (power light goes on) but I get no VU response or audio output from either input. Preamp gain is up. Changing settings on Tube Drive and Compressor make no difference. Dead Preamp?

Central Station Plus external talkback mic VERY QUIET

I have a brand new Central Station Plus. My normal talkback mic is a Shure SM7B, which I plugged into the external talkback mic jack on the back of the central station, and I pushed the button that enables the external talkback mic. I thought that the external mic option was not working, as I could not hear anything through headphones from that mic. I discovered that for the remote to allow the talkback mic to work, the volume control on the central station itself had to be turned up to max volume, and the volume control on the remote had to be turned up to max volume. At that point, I could barely hear myself talking through the SM7B. So I replaced the SM7B with a Shure SM58. With both volume controls turned all the way up, I do now hear myself talking through the talkback mic, but only if I get right up on the mic....3" away, I can barely hear myself.

Is this normal behavior??? I can live with the volume with everything turned up, but it is not ideal, and knowing this, I would never have bought this unit in the first place. Is there anything I can do to increase external talkback mic volume, and also, what is the recommended mic to be used as an external talkback mic?

R65 Acoustic tuning LEDs Flashing and speaker wont switch on

The front LED power supply indicator isn't on, and neither is the audio coming from sound. It apears to be a power fault, though I have tried multiple AC leads, even one that is successfully powering my other monitor.

Presonus 1810c, all input on the back (5,6,7,8) have Left softer than Right. Swapping L and R changes nothing

I plug in TS cables in 1,2,3 and 4 no problem at all. Levels are fine. I plug them in 5,6 and 7,8. In stereo setting Left is less loud than R. In mono same. I pan the L to the Left and I pan R to Right but it's completely not centered. Seems to be sort of centered when I pan R in the middle.
Interface has latest Frimware and I'm running the latest version of UC.

Can I use speaker output C to play back through a home stereo?

Hello,

My question: Can I connect output C from a Central Station to a home stereo amplifier and listen to the playback through regular home speakers? I asked this before and was told that - yes - I could do that by connecting a stereo TS to RCA cable. I tried this and it doesn't work. Do you have any advice?

Thank you,
No sound playing via Studio 24c on Mac

Hi there,

My new-bought Studio 24c is indeed recognised by my MacBook Pro 2019 (with macOS Catalina) : the light is blue). I can see the level moving in the outpout bargraph when strumming my guitar, but no sound is playing through the Mac speakers, or my Blutooth cask...

Any idea, kind experts ?

Many thanks for your tips,

Ground loop/electrical noise with Microstation BT

I own the micro station BT as a monitor controller for my ES-9 euro rack modular interface - which lacks a volume controller for the main output) and I use the bluetooth feature extensively. My monitors are presonus eris 6 pro and everything is connected with balanced cables and supports balanced in/out

I have a ground loop noise that is not affected by the Microstation main volume control knob - it becomes evident as soon as the modular system is turned on - even if the microstation volume is muted and knob is at zero.

This makes me think the problem is electrical in nature. It sounds like noise with a high pitched whining component - like USB noise.

I realise this is common and I have tried some simple things with no effect (trying different power sockets etc)

Removing the microstation from the equation definitely improves things. I guess it has an amplifier which is boosting the bluetooth/line in signals and therefore electrical noise?

Is there any USB power cable ground-lifter or similar device that I can try on the USB power cable?

Feedback / Sensitivity using TubePre v2 with consender mic into Acoustic Guitar amp

I am very new to this type of equipment so I apologize in advance for my lack of expertise in the sound arena. My situation is this. I have a live event coming up. I have an acoustic guitar connected to my Fender Acoustic 100w amp which allows for two inputs. I have my acoustic guitar connected to input 1 via 1/4 inch and I have a condenser mic connected to the TubePre v2 via XLR. I have the TubePre output connected to input 2 on the guitar amp via XLR as well. I have the drive and gain levels on the Tubepre at about 25%. I have the 48V Phantom power and 80hz options selected. I am able to play guitar and have singers sing into the mic with no issues at fairly low amp levels (3). If I try to bump up the volume on the amp for the vocals, I start to get noise. The setup seems very sensitive. Last year I had a dynamic microphone and had no issues and I had that input volume on the amp at 9 in order for folks in the hall to hear it. Now having a condenser mic with the Pretube, I would like to be able to increase the volume for the mic for the performance (doesnt need to be at 9) but want to eliminate any chance for noise or feedback during the performance. Any suggestions from the sound experts out there? Thank you so much for your time and assistance.

Ableton external hardware audio routing

Hi!

I own the presonus studio 1824c, an external compressor and my DAW is ableton live 11. I was recently windows user and I routed everything first from the universal contol, mixers etc. and ableton was able to use properly the external audio effect. Now on my mac I routed exatly the same on my UC and the I/O in ableton and the external audio effect only receives output signal but no input signal.

Digimax 48 Jumper Diagram

Hi -

I'm wondering if anyone has a copy of the jumper diagram for the older Digimax 48. Supposedly a paper copy was included in with the DMAX006 & DMAX007 breakout cables. I've done a web search for an electronic copy, and it's not on the presonus.com website. After reaching out to product support I got an automated response...which claims that because the product is EOL they don't even have the diagram available anymore. I assume this has to be an error with a comapny as big as Presonus, as most of the manufacturers keep all their legacy documentation and drivers out on the web ad infinitum.

Anyhoo - any help would be appreciated - thanks much if you can!

Headphones and power amps

Hi all, I recently bought a StudioLive 24R Mixer. I need to connect headphones to 4 of the 12 Mix outputs 6.3 mm jacks for monitoring. I have already tried to connect headphones but (as it should be) only one channel can be heard when MONO. My question is this: if I modify a stereo cable by soldering the 2 R and L channels on a single pole, do I risk damaging the power amplifiers of the mixer?

I don't need to hear stereo through headphones
Presonus 1810c, input line 5/6 very quiet

Using my Moog Subsequent 37 in line inputs 5 or 6 the volume is very low even though the synth is all the way up and I tried different cables. The synth works fine on the front panel inputs but why not on the back, on 5/6? the synth is a permanent part of my studio and therefore I want the inputs to go in the back. The front inputs I want reserved for instruments that I swap out frequently.

The UC mixer is all standard setting like 1/2 and 3/4. Is there a reason for this behavior on Line In's 5 and 6, or is my Audio Interface going bad?

Thanks,
Why is my Studio1810c not interfacing with Windows10 correctly?

I am attempting to use a Presonus1810c with my windows laptop. the Sound manager in Control Panel and the sound menu in the Settings menu do not see the 1810c as single device, but rather it lists all the inputs and outputs individually. (Main Out 1/2, Line in 1/2, SPDIF in, Etc.) So when i try to use any program like Studio One or Davinci Resolve Fairlight, those programs will only see the one channel selected in control panel, meaning I can only use two of the four XLRs at a time and only one output at a time, unlike on my workplace Mac which sees the 1810c as a single device and programs can see ALL inputs and outputs simultaneously. I should also note the Universal Control is installed.

What's happening and how do I fix this?

Presonus Central Station Aux + TRS/Digital Input Simultaneously

Hello. Currently I have a ********* Control2USB monitor controller with 2 pairs of monitors and a sub-woofer. I also have an Amazon Eco Device hooked up to one of the aux inputs of the controller so if I want to listen to music there, I can without having worry about levels being off of even having my computer on.

I'm looking at the Central Station with controller to replace the Control2USB to free up some desk space. If I run my main sound card (in this case a Scarlette 18i20 3rd gen) to TRS 1 or SDPIF, could I connect my Amazon Echo to the Aux and have the aux signal run in parallel with the main sound card signal for listening to music and playing along?

Can both the mic and line inputs be connected on the Studio Channel or is it only one or the other?

I'd like to keep a mic cable connected to the Studio Channel but still have the TRS input and output connected to my patchbay. When I try this, the mic doesn't work but when I disconnect the TRS input, the mic works. Seems like the TRS connection disables the mic input. Just need to know if having both connected is possible so I won't have to keep crawling behind my desk. Thanks.

Is there a way to change central station speaker switching so that all 3 buttons are active at one time?

I notice that on the new V2 presonus monitor controller it's possible to alter the function of the speaker control buttons to have buttons A and B work either together (Both speakers on) or alternately ( speaker A OR B but not both) by holding down SPKR A button before switching on machine or SPKR B before switching on. Does this also work on Central Station as currently I understand you can only have A or B but not both?

Studio 24c -Backing track bleeds onto vocal track - *not* a closed back or semi closed back headphone issue

My setup is -
Windows 10
Shure Sm7b
cloudlifter
Presonus 24c
AKG K240 / Sennheiser HD280 pro
Audacity/Ableton/Protools

The problem is, every time I want to record vocal over a backing track, the backing track bleeds into the vocal track. This is not a headphones issue it seems, because I can unplug them and monitor using external speakers with no bleed. I can kill the gain on the backing track and it fixes the problem, but defeats the purpose. I can also distance myself from the mic and there is no change in the waveform of the bleed. It seems to be an issue with settings that I just don't know about, maybe a driver, or something else. I've created a tech support ticket at Presonus but they haven't gotten back to me in the timeframe they said they would. Trying this approach. Any help is appreciated.

Are the three VU meter bulbs 10V T1 (7218) or 12V T1 (7219) wire lead incandescent bulbs? I have blown bulbs on one of my Eurekas and need to replace and solder in new ones. There is extremely limited information regarding this issue, no available schematic, and many users on other forums facing this issue. Assistance would be greatly appreciated regarding obtaining replacement bulbs (Digi-Key, Mouser, etc.). Thank you.

MicroStation BT inputs - TRS in and Aux in at the same time?

I couldn't find my answer in the documentation notes, so trying here. I want to purchase the MicroStation BT as a Monitor Controller - but have a couple of questions about its connectivity. Basically I'm looking for a simple monitor controller for my Pioneer DDJ1000 controller and Mac computer to my Studio Monitor speakers.

1. setup would be DDJ1000 plugged into TRS in, and Mac computer plugged into Aux in. Question is will I get audio to my Speakers at the same time, or does Aux in override the TRS in like some other passive monitor controllers?

2. Is the power switch on the back just for powering bluetooth? example if its switched off or not powered, is the device passive? Will I still get audio to my speakers from the DDJ1000 and Mac?

Eris HD10BT paired with macbook, no sound when using with USB interface

Hello All,

The problem and question: When attempting to use newly purchased hd10bt headphones via blue tooth with my macbook I get no sound when trying to use it in the following configuration. The signal chain is this:

guitar into MOTU M4 USB'd to macbook. HD10Bt's to be used as wireless monitoring. The audio midi set up is selected as motu m4 for input and eris hd10bt as output. The HD10BT and Mac are paired via bluetooth.

the phones do work as i can listen audio via bluetooth from the macbook when NOT using the motu m4 inteface. I can watch youtube, play itunes etc and listen just fine.

What i am trying to do is omit a few cables by using the wireless headphones to free up movement when playing guitar into the Mac. For song writing and practice I use a small setup as described above. I use Superior drummer standalone and Neural DSP amp modeler in stand alone. everything works fine when using motu m4 headphone out. But when trying to use the HD10Bt wirelessly, I get no audio in the headset. Am i missing a setting somewhere? anyone else experience similar?

any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Home Studio Setup

I hope I have the right category here so here goes.

I am setting up a home studio for the band I play in, we're along the lines of Magnum/Whitesnake/Europe etc

We're an older bunch in our 50's but are still keen to know our live performance is good so want to be able to record the band simultaneously/live.

The drummer uses a Roland TD50x, the rest of us are standard guitar, Bass, Keyboards, Vocals etc

Can I use either the Studio 1810c or 1824c recording the drums either from its stereo out or midi? Also being more old-school can I use a fader port (8 or 16) to have that organic relationship with Studio One pro and/or is there a single product that is the interface and fader port? I'd like to stick with Presonus hardware and we're using Studio One Pro at the moment

Sorry for all the questions but if anyone could impart their better knowledge/experience to us, we'd be ultimately grateful

Thank you in advance.
