headphone out very quiet in right ear

For both headphone jacks 1 and 2, the right ear is only like 5% the volume of the left. I've tried with multiple pairs of stereo headphones, same result. This is the case for all audio output including Logic and the Mac audio out (like Spotify).

I can't seem to find any pan-related settings, but given it's multiple headphones, both headphone jacks, and multiple apps, seems that maybe some setting is bunked?

Feature Request - Volume control for the SPDIF output

I'd like to use SPDIF instead of the main analog output to connect my monitors to my Quantum 2626. Ideally I could do this with the Main volume knob just like the regular outputs. If that's not technically possible, a slider in Universal Control would also be okay.

I understand that to some this might be considered lowering the quality of the output, and I also don't care. I want to be able to control the volume from the unit.

Where is unity on the gain knob on a Quantum 2626 for a line input?

When connecting an external preamp to the Quantum 2626, all advice is to add no gain on the interface preamps, for obvious reasons. I want to hear the sound of the external not the internal preamp. When I connect a preamp with no gain on that channel of the Q2626, no audio registers, however, if I turn the gain knob up a tiny bit for that channel the signal appears. This suggests there is an 'off' position.

This external preamp is sending out a lot of gain. If I try a quieter external preamp, the gain knob on the Q2626 needs to be around 12 o clock for it to register as a decent level signal for recording.

I've read the manual and looked at a bunch of forums but I can't find the answer to my question anywhere. Where is unity on the gain knob when using a line level input? If I'm sending out a signal and the knob is at 7 o clock (off) am I then removing gain? So unity would be 12 o clock. Or would unity be at 7 o clock? In which case by having the knob at 12 o clock I'm then adding roughly 30dB of gain.

Many thanks in advance for any help!

Cheers,
Are there plans for a new version of the quantum 26x32 with Thunderbolt 4 soon?

I have a new Mac Mini M2 Pro and Im interested about 2 quantums 26x32 to have 16 channels, but I have been reading a lot of complains about the T2 connection to a T4, I would prefer the same connection. So maybe Presonus is planning for a new version soon before making a purchase, thanks.

Do presonus offer a midi device to accompany my presonus 4848

I currently own a Presonus 4848

Which of course does not have midi, which has been fine because I have been using a usb hub, but I would like to invest in something better. I am looking for a device that has midi & USB which I can use to send clock from Ableton to my synths, ideally a rack mount midi / USB device.

Any advice please would be great.

Also I would like to know if you can recommend any presonus rack mount gear that can help with end chain mastering or eq

Thanks

No sound from the 4848 with external gear

Hey there, hope somebody can help me out. Here´s the thing:

though my Stereo-Out on my 4848 is working with Plug-Ins, I can´t hear any sound from my external devices. The 4848 is synced and the latest drivers are installed running OSX Ventura 13.2.1

The 4848 shows me the incoming signal, but it doesn´t appear in Logic though, neither in sound nor in visual. So far the cables must be connected right. Universal Control also shows me the incoming signal, but Logic still doesn´t get it.

The Audio Midi Setup within OSX must be right too, as the same settings worked on my older Mac (I use two 4848 daisy chained and created a Main-Device).

Maybe it´s just a little unchecked box I am overseeing.

Does anybody have a clue?

Thanks

Connect Quantum 2632 to Intel Mac Mini 2018 through Thunderbolt 4 dock/hub?

I have a Quantum 2632 which I have historically connected to my Mac Mini 2018 (Intel processor, Mac OS 10.14 Mojave) directly using an Apple Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter. I recently acquired a couple of Thunderbolt 4 hubs (one OWC, one CalDigit) to use alternately with that Mac Mini and my MacBook Pro (Apple Silicon M1 processor, Mac OS 11 Big Sur). Basically, I want to connect my Quantum to the hub and connect my hub to either of my computers, and use the Quantum as the audio interface. Of course I'm only using one of the computers at a time.

The Quantum works perfectly when the connection is MacBook Pro M1 › Thunderbolt 4 hub › Apple Thunderbolt adapter › Quantum.

However, it doesn't show up as an audio interface at all when the connection is Mac Mini Intel › Thunderbolt 4 hub › Apple Thunderbolt adapter › Quantum. As I said, the Quantum works perfectly when the hub isn't there.

Is there any way to get the Quantum to work with my Mac Mini when connected through the Thunderbolt 4 hub?

can't get rid of RF or hum in monitors

I have a 2626 Live wire power conditioner PC1100, 2 event Tuned reference 3 active monitors and TRS balance ¼ inch cables. I have tried everything and I still get RF and line noise at different times though different monitors. I can’t seem to upload a pic of the back of the 2626.

I am a VO actor and not a sound engineer. If there is a solution can you help me with all steps. I have been using the MAIN OUT for a while without problems. Even with cable management, I get changes here and there, but still get RF and hum. Can I go over to the 1-2 Line Outputs – TRS balanced to solve the problem. If so, do I have to set these up in the Universal Control?

I am also not using ferrules.

Quantum 2626 Mac M1 Loads of background noise which changes whilst the computer operates

all of a sudden lots of back ground noise.......nothing changes when I adjust knobs on the interface, turn off speakers etc itself but does change in pitch and crackle (i.e. when I use the computer (e.g. moving cursor, typing etc, the hiss and hum gets louder and more crackles, pops, etc). I'm using Mac Airlbook M1, running Sonoma 14.1.2. the thunderbolt cable is direct from apple in the last month. I haven't tested this with another as I don't have one to hand (or the money to spend on a new one today). Wondering if this is software related (i.e. updating to Sonoma) or a dodgy cable or something more serious/ known fault etc.

Enable dual outputs on each Quantum (26x32) when synced together

I own a pair of Quantums (26x32). I would like to enable dual outputs (at minimum) from each device; however, although I can use every single input on the two devices, I was recently learned with the help of PreSonus tech support that I can only have two outputs and only from ONE of the daisy-chained units.

For instance I can route my Master bus in StudioOne out through the Main output of Quantum #1, and then create a Listen bus that sends over outputs 5-6 (for instance). But I can't simultaneously use the other outputs on Quantum #1 or ANY of the outputs from Quantum #2 or other Quantums.

In addition, when I'm not using Studio One and just want to listen music through the Quantum, the output options are even more limited. I can only use ONE output at a time, which I must set using the "Configure Speakers" function in the Apple MIDI Setup app.

A true matrix switcher – which is implied by the "26x32" designation on the Quantum – would enable any input to be routed to any output on any daisy-chained units. Why not create a simple matrix grid that enables such routing either in a DAW or for system use? Short of that, at least give us a few more simultaneous outputs!

Can you aggregate two Quantum 2626's?

I have been happily running a Quantum 2626 with two mic pres connected by ADAT and BNC for a few years. That gives me 24 mic/line ins and 8 aux outs. But since aux outs 1/2 are also mains on the 2626 I really only have 3 stereo monitor mixes available (S1 will only let you configure a stereo cue mix, not a mono). I want to add a few more. So my plan would be to buy a second Quantum and connect it directly to my Mac Mini via Thunderbolt 3 (I am not currently using the second T3 port on the Mac Mini). The Presonus docs encourage a BNC connection for wordclock, so I would put the second 2626 in the BNC chain.

Question: All of the Presonus manuals and videos show aggregating 1-3 Quantums (TB2) with one 2626. I have yet to find any example of stacking (aggregating) two (or up to four, conceptually) 2626s. Has anyone done that? Is there some reason why that would not work properly? I would expect that it would, and I would then see 32 Mic/Line Ins and 16 Aux Outs in S1 once the units are aggregated in UC and wordclock is properly slaved. I am a bit spooked that there is no mention of this (as far as I can tell). Does anyone know if this works? Thanks.

Is there a possibility that presonus has an explosive product update?

Studio One 6.5 was recently updated, and the original sound supports Dolby Atmos. The previously discontinued Quantum 4848 has pretty good reviews. So think big. Is it possible that the next generation 4848 will use dual-purpose AVB and Thunderbolt 3 interfaces. Supports Dolby Atmos. There's even an LED level meter. Even though the parameters remain at the same level as the previous generation product. This will also be an epoch-making and cost-effective product.Let’s discuss it together

Why does audio not appear in Studio One when Universal Controller can see input?

I can see all the inputs in Universal Control, but when I select an input in Studio One and put the track in record/monitor there is no input or throughput. I have double checked the patching in Song Setup and it is correct. Baffled here, I'm a 40 yr+ audio pro and I can't figure this one out.

This is a feature request. I have been loving my Quantum 26x26 as it out performs any interface I've used in my 40+ years doing music! I only wish it had a mixer, similar to the one used by Focusrite for it's Scarlett series.
The reason is because I am using, as I think most studios today are using a subwoofer. This is where having a mixer does a would of good.

When I can send the same DAW outputs to more than one physical output, this is powerful. Today, with your product (26x26) I can only send out logical outputs to their respective physical outputs. This is limiting and should be changed. Please have you developers take a look at the flexibility of inserting a software mixer in the path and see the flexibility it gives. I'm sure you will eventually provide one for your customers.

Yours Truely
Tony Sylvia

I am volunteering to be a beta tester for this!

Low level sound from Quantum without DAW

I have a guitar amp sim (line-level) hooked up to a Quantum. With no DAW open, I hear a low level signal coming out the monitors, connected to the main outputs. It's also clearly visible in the inputs in Universal Control, but not at the outputs. The same on the front panel of the Quantum.

In the DAW, I have a double sound.

To me, it sounds like hardware monitoring, but the Quantum doesn't have that, I know. So what's wrong here? How do I get a quiet Quantum with the DAW off?

Running a Windows 10 PC on a Ryzen 5. Titan Ridge connects to the Quantum.

Quantum 2626 Line Return = Line In?

Hi,

A little clarification needed.

Can I use the Line Return only, as a Line In, without Preamp Out and without anything connected to the front?

I know the manual say:

Line Returns are normalled to the channel 1 and 2 preamp outputs, so they take precedence over the corresponding Mic/Inst input on the front of the Quantum 2626.
Power user tip: the Line Returns can also be used to input line-level devices that have their own volume control; synths, channel strips, preamps, etc.

But it still remains a little unclear to me.

Thanks!

Quantum2626 Instrument inputs are wonky

Hi. I'm a veteran studio/live sound guy and musician. Because people are always concerned with the sum of equipment, I have a Quantum2626 thunderbolt interfaced with a Mac i9, 32Gb Ram OS 10.15.7. It had been working wonderfully since I bought it, literally NOTHING in my setup has changed recently.

My Quantum2626 in the studio began a new behaviour yesterday. The first two inputs (nominally Inst/Mic 1, 2) behave the same way, as follows. Input goes straight from -30 to clip as signal increases. I've boiled this down as follows:

- different cables, different instruments, different DAW. Twiddled attenuation knobs (for dirt). Uploaded latest Universal Audio drivers. NO CHANGE.

Metering is the same with DAWs as in UA. Meter to maybe 30%, then a little louder = clip.

Moving instruments, cables etc into the remaining mic/line inputs resumes the a normal, expected progression from inf to 0 as they are played louder. In other words, NOT using the instrument inputs (for um, instruments) works fine. The clip occurring back on 1, 2 is audible, not a metering anomaly. So it seems the issue is with the instrument inputs themselves - presumably they have a different pre-amp(s) than the remaining six inputs?

Any thoughts here?

Dumb question: can the Quantum 2626 line inputs (3-8) be used for instruments?

Sorry for the dumb question, I want to make sure I have it right before I buy such an expensive instrument...

I have a hexaphonic guitar (one instrument TS output per string). The Quantum 2626 has inputs 1-2 are Mic/Instrument inputs, and inputs 3-8 are Mic/Line inputs. Is it possible to use inputs 3-8 for instrument inputs as well, or must they be preamped to line level first? The manual states that both go to the instrument preamplifier section, and only list the difference between them as 1-2 having TS connectors and 3-8 as having TRS connectors.

Issues with disconnection using Quantum 2626 on both M1 Mac and Windows machines

Hello,

I recently purchased a Quantum 2626 interface, and I seem to be having some trouble using it even with different computers.

For the first two days of using the interface, I had no problems at all. The firmware updated fine, and I was able to use it inside studio one with great success. This was exclusively on an M1 Macbook Air (2020). Suddenly, after a couple days of use, I am having an issue where the interface is randomly disconnecting constantly. It will appear and disappear from UC even without anybody touching the cables. Every time it disconnects it will also stop charging (if that gives any hints).

After seeing this issue, I also tried it with a Windows computer (made sure Universal Control and all drivers were installed) with even less luck. The device won't even show up on a Windows machine.

This has all been with the same Thunderbolt cable. I even stopped by my local music store where they let me try out a Belkin thunderbolt cable that ended up having the same issues. I saw online that some people have had success specifically with the Apple thunderbolt cable, but I can't see why it would work perfectly for the first two days and suddenly stop. However, maybe I'm overlooking something.

Thanks in advance for the response! Excited to get this up and running.

How do I ADAT out from my quantum 2626 to my Apollo twin x?

I just got the apollo twin x and want to expand it with my quantum 2626 i have had for a couple of years. The universal control for the quantum is not very good, and it seems like everything is greyed out and theres no option to have any of the inputs tied to the adat out puts. For reference i have both going in my computer with a thunderbolt cables, and i have an optical out from my 2626 to the in on my twin. ive been testing my re20 on input one of the 2626 nad the twins twins control software is not picking it up. I set the ua console to match 48khz with the 2626, and i set the clock source to ADAT. It has 8 adat channels on the console. The presonus manuals havent helped me, and they seem to have indepth videos for everything except the 2626.

Quantum 2 Audio interface problem in setting up 5.1?

Hello,

I encountered strange problem with my Quantum 2 audio interface. I want to upgrade from stereo speaker setup to 5.1. my front two speakers (FL, FR) are connected to the MAIN OUT ports. I connected two surround speakers (RL, RR) into LINE OUT ports 3,4. When I go into my MIDI and Audio setup on my MAC and go into the speaker setup, where I can assign which speaker goes into which output of my audio interface, I try to change my surround left speaker to output 3, but i won't let me. I get an error message, that I cannot connect multiple speakers to the same output. I tried playing test sound and some music from the front speakers, and my rear speakers where playing also! I found out, that all Line Out ports are acting like MAIN OUT ports. I tried pluging the front speakers from the MAIN OUT into free LINE OUT slots, but the result is the same. It always plays together. And the setup cannot be completed, because my MAC is telling me, that I cannot assign two speakers to the same output. It doesn't matter where I connect which cable - it always deliver the same error message. Do you know what might cause this problem? Thank you.

Why is my Quantum 2626 causing glitchy audio? Will send money for assistance

https://soundcloud.com/ian-lambach/nightmare-sound

How do I start diagnosing that problem? I have a brand new Mac Studio with 32GB of RAM. I am plugging mics straight into a Quantum 2626 which is going directly to the Mac. The audio is glitchy in both Ableton Live and Logic Pro. I tried streaming Netlix to test it also. It only glitched once, but it did glitch. I tried using my old Focusrite 6i6 and it worked perfectly, it just sounded much worse.

I have been recording audio for many years and it sounds to me like the buffer size is too low and it's causing things to fall out of sync but it's behaving the same way even if I set the buffer size unnecessarily high. The audio is occasionally glitchy going in and coming out as well. I can post more audio or post pics of the audio files. The audio files don't look corrupted; they look like they should sound fine. The glitching is very intermittent. It will not happen for an hour, then happen more often, then less. There seems to be no pattern or logic.

If anyone can give me advice that fixes this, I will PayPal them $50 immediately

I apologize the audio is hard panned. I was working on a song, I heard the incoming audio glitch, decided to finally deal with the problem and hastily exported the audio.

Can't get my ASUS B550 Creator to see my Quantum 4848

I was Wondering what Intel driver version you used. I assume you used a Startech adapter. No matter what I do I cannot get my ProArt B550 Creator to see my Quantum 4848. It came with what looks like a MAC cable so I am also no sure about that. Any thoughts? Thanks
