I've got an RM16ai setup in a separate room of our Studio.

I can connect it via Firewire to Mac Pro running El Capitan and it works fine when recording into Logic Pro.

However our Existing old Mackie d8b connected to a MOTU 2408 mk ii inputs via a PCI424 card (old money...).

If we upgraded the MOTU to an AVB type and bought a MOTU switch will the Mac Pro be able to "see" both the RM16ai and the MOTU inputs? Can I route outputs in either direction?

thanks

If you have bought the things already, just try if it works... ;-) I don't think anybody around here can answer that question. Basically the present PreSonus and MOTU machines cannot communicate with each other, because they are using different/not corresponding versions of AVB. The AVB switch is a different thing and an exception... If you haven't bought the things, don't do it. It probably will not work.

@wahlerstudios

Thanks for your answer = = that's a bit of a shame....

We're functioning quite well with our existing mackie d8b setup but figured to try and utilise the RM16ai (that w'd bought for Live Use) as an input from a 2nd Live Room.  I think it'll mean switching between input "cards" to get from one system to the other which is a bit annoying hence my "solution" of upgrading the MOTU to a newer AVB type - that way still keeping the desk....

It's swings and roundabouts I suppose when configuring an upgrade to the system
