Let's say I have a spare MIDI controller and instead of assigning key commands to the macros in the macro organizer, is it possible to use the drumpads on my MIDI controller?

HI,

Yes.   When or if you midi learn from a control surface or a keyboard etc, you can right click the on screen knob or button in Studio One and directly assign any command or macro to it.
