Studio One 3 Artist

Windows 10 64bit

PC: Sweetwater CS250, i5 8400, 8gb ddr4 ram, OS on ssd, separate internal 1tb hdd, yackity yak

Digital interface: Soundcraft Ui24r

I always use automation after recording multiple tracks, but it doesn't always work as it should. It's often defeated when I move a fader that's been automated. I'm told this is normal but automation is supposed to come back, but my automation is too often just dumped - or so it seems. When I move a fader on a track in READ mode and with automation and then hit stop twice or manually move to a different place on the timeline, some channels snap back to the automated setting while others stop responding to automation. I'll then re-record automation to that track, but sometimes that doesn't even work.

I opened a support ticket and the response was: "This is a feature. When controls are automated and being read, if you manually move a control it temporarily bypasses READ automation and it won't engage again until you toggle the transport."

I don't know what "toggling the transport" means. I wrote back to the tech telling him that, and asked for one or two examples of toggling the transport but it may take a while to get an anwer. I'm sure he'll respond as soon as he can, but I'm almost out of time on this project. Can anyone tell me what that means and give 1-2 examples?

Much obliged.

Hi,

I think toggling the transport means:
Either pressing play or moving the transport bar(jumping with the start marker to another part of the song.)
In other words changing the position from where the song starts playing. Or pressing play/fast forward etc.
That results in the automation being read on that place of the song and the fader jumps to the set automation value.

The problem with snapping back after moving faders accours because:
Your automation is set to read only. That means that the automation is not changeable. You have to set it to another mode. Read about it in the help.
I have a link here but maybe you'll have to other things in the help to:
