Feature Request: Channel Editor Revamp

The Channel Editor has been part of Studio One for quite some time but it hasn't got some real upgrades ever since. It's a very useful tool that can actually change the way we use plugins and mix.

Ultimately, I would like to see the channel editor to be one of the best features of Studio One. Here are some of the things that I want to have in the channel editor:

  1. Modulators (LFO, envelopes). Imagine being able to tie a knob or a number of them to an LFO with the ability to change the depth. Other DAWs have this already but Studio One still doesn't have it. It would be great if it will be a part of the Channel Editor. This can turn the ProEQ2 into a very cool dynamic EQ too (pun intended).
  2. Stepped Knobs. The Channel Editor has 8 knobs. I think it's nice for it to have a stepped mode. Great for many stuff including controlling stepped values on some plugins. This also leads to the next thing I want to see:
  3. Customizable Interface. Having the ability to colorize a knob or button and change its position so that you can create your own "plugin". Also let us have the ability to remove the unused buttons. It's would also be cool if we can get the value of a certain plugin's meter and put it in the channel strip! With this you can really create your own plugin.
  4. Better Curve Controls. When you attach a knob to one of the knobs in Channel Editor, you can change the max and min value of the knob, it allows you to be granular and just focus on a certain range but it's really hard to set the max and min volume because you can't enter the values through the keyboard. Nudging it through the mouse is very unprecise.
  5. Link Controls.  It would be great if we can link 2 knobs together and unlink them whenever we want.
  6. Indicator for plugins if there is a parameter that is linked to the Channel Editor.
  7. Presets. Allow us to create some presets for the Channel Editor.
That's all I have in my mind.

i agree, it is an area that doesn't get promoted by Presonus yet it has the potential to be a great feature.

Personally i'd like the ability to be able to link parameters from the same plugin that has been inserted onto several tracks to have the same control mapped to one Channel Editor knob so that when i move the knob its control the same parameter across the multiple instances of the same plugin.

Here's an example, i stick the Pro EQ on 4 audio tracks. I would then link, say, the low cut filter on all instances to just one knob on the Channel Editor so that when i turn the knob it alters the low cut filter on all tracks at the same time.

Love the idea! I totally agree with you on the fourth point, we should be able to set a maximum and a minimum value.

Great!

And also, I was expecting S1 to replicate the Channel Editor concept in Vst Instruments and FXs. Just like in other DAWs, each instrument and effect will have an "instrument or FX" editor with 8 knobs and 8 buttons ready to go with capability to add more given the plugin parameters.

Other DAWs have already gone way far with this. For example, the first 8 knobs and 8 buttons are pre-populated with the most important or basic parameters of each plugin. So after linking those plugin editor knobs and buttons, it would be a huge start to not replicate re-linking and re-assigning for every plugin. People these days have tons of these. In my case, thousands. making S1 as is effectively impractical.

I love S1 soooo much. It's unfortunate that things are so instrumental are not yet done whereas most pro DAWs already them figured out.
