melodyne pitch editing is also effecting the other events when I don't want it to

First issue that I am experiencing with Melodyne is when I duplicate (complete) a track with samples that I have been edited with Melodyne and then when I want to re-edit the pitching on that duplicate track it will also apply the same pitching edits to the original track as if they are sharing the same Melodyne edit, which is quite bizzare and also defeats the purpose of creating the duplicate track. When I duplicate the original track and then edit the duplicate track, I only want the duplicate track to change and the original track to remain unchanged, but the pitch editing in Melodyne will effect both tracks.

The only way I could get around this was to delete all those sample events on the duplicate track and then drag that same sample again from the pool back on to that duplicate and then the pitch editing would only effect that sample on the duplicate track. I then wanted to do a 2nd pitch editing routine on that same sample on the duplicate track, but on a 2nd event, so I dragged that same sample again on to the duplicate track, thinking that it would treat the 2 samples (sample file) as independent from each other, due to each being dragged in separately on to 2 separate events, but if I pitch edit either of them, it will effect the other.

While typing this I've just thought of a simple easy solution to this issue and to ask - Can the auto updating by Melodyne on the duplicates events be turned off, so it only effects that single event you are editing?

or would it be better just to use a third party plugin that I have already, which is WavesTunes?
