My wireless dongle won't directly connect to my iOS device/Computer - Why is this?

When attempting to connect to a StudioLive AI mixer, whether a StudioLive AI desktop or RM32/16, a wireless router is necessary at all times to connect wireless devices.  Presonus Audio suggests using one of the approved routers from the list below as they are personally tested by our QA department to work well with all StudioLive mixer series.

Are there any specific routers that are NOT approved to work with the StudioLive AI mixers?
