.i would love to have a consolidate function for audio the same as there is in protools.

 lots of benefits : 1 fades control , 2 can delete old files, can re edit new file in different ways etc

You have the `bounce selection` option do the same thing. Select 1 or more events then CTRL+B.

Alternatively, you can also "Merge" -- it's under the Audio menu.
