I use a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 audio interface. I purchased Studio one 3. I have recorded many instruments (actual instruments) through the interface. When I connect my Blue Spark condenser microphone to the input, and try to record, I do get a sound. But it is very quiet and if I turn it up loud enough to hear it, the sound gets distorted.

I've tried this with (audio interface) direct monitor on and off. (which is right?) I've tried it with the input selector on the audio interface at line and instrument. (Which is correct?). Output volume in Studio One is at maximum.

I've tried looking this up and searching your "knowledge base." If there is helpful information there, I just need to be pointed to it.

Thanks

Hi.  Have you made sure to activate the phantom power on your interface, after connecting the microphone to the interface?

I did have the phantom power on. Somehow, this fixed *itself*. I don't understand what I was doing wrong, nor what I now am doing right. All I can do is thank you for your help but then shrug in bewilderment over what the problem was in the first place, and move on.

So: Thanks for responding.
