24 c not showing up in drop down menu in Studio 5 i/O settings,

I've been unsuccessful (even after 2 reinstalls of the universal control) to get my new 24c to show up in the drop-down menu for configuring/setting up the audio I/O. The UC shows the 24c as a device, but it does not appear in Studio One Artist. So, I tried  Studio USB, but got this message "The audio device Studio USB has failed to start correctly before." I am stuck for a solution!  Recommendations?
