I'm having the same issue but when I followed your solution below, "Record Offset" was greyed out and nothing happened, Also, your explanation didn't say what that would do exactly.

The echo you hear may be related to latency.   Try lowering your audio device buffers or if your audio device allows direct hardware monitoring at near zero latency, monitor your vocal with that while recording.

If your audio recordings are not being placed correctly and the Record Offset feature doesn't help, try to use an ASIO driver, not the OS audio driver, and make sure your ASIO driver is fully up to date.
