One of my Eris 5 blows the fuse as soon as it's turned on. From what I've read, this seems to be a common problem. What's the fix ?

Hi, my Eris e8 blowed fuse like you, turned out it's a ceramic capacitor .1uF - 100V  that burned out, The ceramic shrank so much from the heat that the two poles inside touched toguether, creating a shortage. I need to replace it. What's strange though, in my other Eris e8, it's a diffrent circuit board and have .1uF - 400V ceramic capacitor in it. The part cost almost nothing if you can solder it by yourself.

It is August 6th 2024 ......... I am adding this to the thread just in case any one else needs it.

After reading simonriverin's response. I opened my Eris 5 and lo and behold ...
A blown ceramic capacitor....

I first checked the fuse, yup, blown. Inside the fuse holder was a spare fuse. It too blew right away. That is when I opened the unit.
There is a blown ceramic capacitor. I cant see the value because it is actually black and crusty . I have to open my other one. simon's post says his circuit boards were different .I will hope mine are the same as I need to read the value of the 'good' capacitor. At any rate, I just posted to confirm simons response that I also had a blown ceramic capacitor.
I will be ordering a few ...and a box of fuses
Do not attempt if you dont know what you are doing. Dont be arrogant . I took Electronics Technicians classes. dont be foolish. The part is cheap and easy to fix "IF" you know how. You can hurt yourself and the unit. just take it too an electronics tech and tell him / her to look for a blown ceramic cap

OK.... Im back to edit . After taking apart the working Eris 5 .... wouldnt you know it . The non working unit had a little brown ceramic cap  at " C200" on the board .The working unit has a giant "Orange Drop" type looking cap you would see on a guitar  soldered underneath the board . I assume it is repaired.  The value of it is 104J   400v. Same value as simon suggested . The reason the capacitor is different or repaired in one speaker ( and  now one is blown also )   from my perspective is that I bought this pair of Eris 5's used off of ebay a couple years ago . SO maybe the person I got them from had one repaired or repaired it and then sold them ...still ...an easy fix for some one with the knowledge ....crappy designing /un-forseen  I suppose by the engineers.
