I'm trying to figure out if I can send different audio tracks to different sound cards.

Basically, what I wish to accomplish is to have a click-track for drums play through 1 sound card, while all other tracks are played through a second sound card.

Is this possible?
And if so, how?

EDIT:
I'll be using a laptop (HP, so no Mac) with the on-board sound card and an additional USB sound card. Both of these only have stereo (2-channel) output.
As matthewgorman says in his answer that a multi-channel sound card (like the SoundBlaster X-Fi Xtreme 7.1 I have in my desktop) would make this possible, I believe I'll have to look for another solution. Like finding a USB soundcard with 5.1 (6-channel) output.

(sidenote: I only use the free licensed version of Studio One 3, so if that's a limitation of this version I'll have to find another solution)

Unless you are on a mac, you can only use one soundcard at a time. You can use one soundcard with multiple outputs to separate the streams, but without relevant details on the hardware I can't answer.

Studio One is optimized for ASIO devices only on Windows. ASIO can only see one device at a time, therefore make sure which ever device you purchase has ASIO support.

But wait, there's one more item, as you're only on the Free version of Studio One which only supports 2in and 2out, if you were to upgrade to Artist, and use the ASIO driver for your Sound Blaster 7.1 card, then you could use 1 and 2 for your main out and then create 6 additional mno audio buses or 3 stereo (or any combination) and send audio out to individual outputs as needed.
