My church has a SL 24.4.2 (not AI) and we are using a HearBack system for in-ear monitors. I don't know specifics about how the HearBack is connected. But, I know that the board connects to a HearBack controller, then to on-stage monitor mixers via CAT5e cable. Headphones are plugged into the monitor mixers and we can control the actual mix through Q-Mix.

I recently purchased a SL 24.4.2AI for home use. I want to do something similar to this. I want to get some input and suggestions on budget hardware to make it work, as well as direction on tips/tricks to get it setup correctly. I've looked into EarMix, Dante networking, AVB networking, and RM networking, but I'm having a hard time understanding it all.

At this point, I'm almost literally a one-man band. I have a very small studio in my home. My drums are too far away from the board to make mixing changes. When (if) I get a band together, I want each member to be able to have independent control of their headphone mixes. I realize this is pretty much standard operating procedure. I just need a few fingers pointing me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance,

Kevin S.

Just use a headphone amp like the PreSonus HP2. Run from your aux mix outputs from the board into each HP2 and then plug in headphones. You may need to buy some headphone extension cables. Everyone will still be able to use Q-Mix to control their Aux Mix. This is probably the cheapest and easiest way to go.
