Question

I have a classic StudioLive 16.4.2 mixer and I want to record external audio to Capture 3 using the Aux 17/18 channel that automatically is created by the Capture 3 software.  I want to record play along audio from my iPad but still have all the other 16 channels open.  I do know That I can just run the audio into an open channel, but I don't always have the extra channel available.

Any time spent to answer this question is greatly appreciated.

All StudioLive mixers use the same basic routing. so on a Series III mixer I would do it like this:

1) Aux In 1 (stereo) as input for iPad music, sent to

2) Aux 1+2 (linked) as "bus", which gets

3) routed as stereo input to Capture tracks 17+18.

This eats no inputs, just a stereo aux. I could use a "fixed" subgroup on the Series III mixers as bus for this, too.
