Question

used to have a button to open up the channels sideways and add inserts and sends there, but now we can only add inserts and sends by stacking them on top... can we get the sideways option back?!?!?!!!

This option is still there. Make sure to deactivate the "top the top" view. Then double-click a channel to collapse it to the right. You can also use the "Collapse selected channel automatically" (or similar). in the channel options.
