Is there a way to unlink the console's channel name and the track name in Studio One 5? Normally I don't want this, but occasionally when mixing on my SSL Nucleus control surface, I would like to make shorter "scribble strip" names for the Nucleus. At the same time I'd like to have a longer, explanatory name on the track in the arrangement.

Example:

Track name in arrange window - "Leadvocals with FX"

Console channel name (scribble strip) - "VoxFX"

Is there a way to achieve this?

There doesn't seem to be a way to un-link them near as I can tell (and some scouring of the boards here seems to suggest it's by design), but I have found a workaround though through some trial and error after spending some 3+ hours scouring YouTube. It seems when you rename a track, the first channel tied to it changes as well. And vice versa: if you rename the first channel of an instrument, it renames the instrument track. But if you duplicate the track first, you should be able to rename the track or the channel without such trouble. then you can just remove your duplicated track.

Perhaps a more definitive answer I got from someone on Discord: If you open the inspector (F4), you can set the channel for the track. If you set the channel to None, they become unlinked and you can rename them both in whatever manner is required, then just set the channel back and you are done.
