Will the Presonus 24R mixer work with the Presonus 24.4.2 mixer due to older model?

I have an older PreSonus 24.4.2 and was wondering would it be wasteful to purchase the PreSonus 24R mixer replacing the old cable snake? Can you please assist? I will await your reply.
