Over the course of years of a studio, some songs use outdated plugins, typically superseded by new major version.
For instance FabFilter Q2 gets replaced by FabFilter Q3.
Or VST gets replaced by VST3
Or a UAD plugin gets a native counterpart
It should be much easier to upgrade from one plugin to another, preserve important settings of a plugin instance.
