Quick question, in Options > Advanced > MIDI there is the following setting:

Use legacy midi instead of direct music

This setting is unchecked by default. However, when this setting is unchecked, if I click [Reconnect] to reconnect MIDI devices under Options > External Devices there Studio One freezes for a few seconds (the hourglass mouse pointer shows up), and if I check the option (to use legacy MIDI) devices are reconnected instantly. The short delay is less noticeable on my new machine but on my old computer it would take 4-5 seconds to reconnect devices.

All my MIDI gear works regardless of the checked status of this setting, so what's the use of this option? Cheers

Some devices will only show up for use or assignment when Direct Music ports aren't hidden, so the option to hide those devices for users who don't need to see them is of value, less clutter, as is the option to show them when they must be listed by necessity to use a particular device.
