Independent Gain Control for USB Recording

I find it frustrating that the recording level on my StudioLive AR mixer is tied to the main gain control.  Every time you adjust the overall sound level you mess with the recording level.  The manual says to "adjust the sound from the speakers" but this is not always practical.  Who wants to leave the mixing board and keep tweaking the speakers?  What if the speakers are installed up high?  I mean come on.

The solution is simple.  Add a gain control (or maybe think of it as a signal control) for the stereo recorder.  Also add a toggle control so you can temporarily switch the LED level indicators from Main to monitor the SD card recording level.  Now you can set the SD card recording level, switch the LED level indicators back to display the main.  Now the SD card is set and you can adjust the main as desired.

Another request, maybe a little less important, would be a track indicator display for the recorder.  Just a number (1, 2, 3, etc.) so you could more easily know which track you are on.
