Let’s see if this idea gets the favor of some users:
With one of the latest version updates is now possible, by selecting multiple channels, to edit the send of the same lane. This feature, potentially very useful, is of little usability at the moment as it is not possible to use send 3 (for instance) if 1-2 have not been opened yet
Example
CH1 CH2 CH3 CH4
Lane 1 Room Room Room Room
Lane 2 Reverb Reverb Delay Reverb
Lane 3 Delay Delay Distort Delay
Lane 4 Parall comp Parall Comp
Lane 5 Rev2
In such situation if I was to reduce the send delay for tracks 1-2-3 I cannot simply select the 3 tracks and move the sends as the lane 3 of channel 3 (Distort) will be edited in place of delay.
I normally overpass the problem by putting a slot with a fake bus whose name is “No send” to match them up. Not the ideal situation.
To solve the problem a new function could be implemented. By right clicking on any send there could be a “Create a send fix lane”. This lane, that would be placed on top of the sends line, will create a fix lane where all the send inside of it are grouped. To the lane should be possible to give a name, so in case we want to place a reverb on track 38 we won't need to go back to CH 1 to see which lanes was used for the reverb.
In the example above a “fix lane” could be created for Room, Reverb and maybe delay, but of course might not be needed for the parallel comp sends as well as Rev 2 and Distort.
At this point, by selecting ch 1-2-3 the edit of the fix lanes will be possible to edit the delay for the 3 tracks.
Also, I would keep the visualization of fixed lane consistent while, for all the others, retain the chance to slide the send down and up freely the way it is now.
By doing so, the flexibility of the sends will be retained (for instance protools is not flexible about it) but it will give the chance to make a better use of the send multiple sends feature.
