Hi all. Half question, half comment.

I decided to upgrade my iMac today only to find that my Firewire 400 connection from the Firestudio doesn't have a home in the new iMac. Hmmm. My current iMac is pretty old but i just assumed firewire was still a thing. Anyhow, i did some research and quickly realised that firewire 400 has been superseded by firewire 800. But alas, the new iMac only has thunderbolt 3 or USB connections. So, i could connect my firestudio like this... Firestudio -> Firewire 800 bilingual adaptor -> firewire to thunderbolt adaptor -> thunderbolt adaptor to thunderbolt 3 adaptor -> iMac. What a lot of f'ing around to do what my 10yr old iMac can already do!!!!! Am i missing something here. I love my Firestudio mobile and don't want to spend anymore $$ on upgrading an interface that already works perfectly well. WT actual F ??!!

Oh, i took the Mac in for a refund. F$@# apple and their stupid port upgrades.

But really, am i missing something here ??

Unfortunately, you aren't missing anything.  The new MacBookPro only have USB C connections.  You can use the Apple USB C to Thunderbolt adapter and also the Apple Thunderbolt to firewire adapter.
