Question

I misplaced the USB cable that came with the unit in the box, so I bought another at the store, but when I plug it in my computer does not seem to be recognized the audiobox.

Any good USB cable should work.  If your AudioBox won't sync to your computer the cause could be unrelated to the USB cable.

-  Try another USB port.

-  Don't use a USB hub, plug it in directly.

-  Make sure you have the latest drivers installed:  http://www.presonus.com/support/downloads/AudioBox-USB
