Using a Midi to template time signature and then record instruments vocals

Ive started a song by opening a midi file to import time signature and a backing track to practice against.

However I'm unable to add normal tracks for guitar and vocals once I've done this, selecting input of channels from the interface is not available, rather than the standard input choice of 1 to 8 i instead have the options of input L or input R

it seems importing the midi changes the configuration of how the interface is being used / accessed by the DAW, and I ain't got a clue how to fix this. I'm sure its very simple but I cant find what i'm doing wrong / what step i'm omitting.

TIA

Sorry to hear about the recent issues you have been experiencing.

In the song, go to Song > Song Setup > Audio I/O Setup and add your Inputs and Outputs as needed.

thanks, Ive done it.. finally

Create new song

File / open (select midi file)

click on track... go to menu: Track / Transform / render to audio

then to fix the Audio I/O set up.

Song / Song Setup ... will come up on Audio I/O tab with:

L+R assigned to channel 1 and 2

L assigned to ch 1

R assigned to ch 2

click on each of these 3 rows and select Remove

now click on the Add (mono) 4 times

inputs 1 to 4 will be added back as M (mic) inputs rather than L & R assigned.
