can't record?

I just started today so I know this is a very basic question but my tracks currently look like the first image, and I'm not able to record new moments in the song. I'm just wondering how to get my tracks to look like the second image so I can continue to record.

Sorry to hear about the recent issues you have been experiencing.

You are in Automation view. Please press "a" key on your QWERTY keyboard to get out of Automation view and back to the normal track view.
