Is there a way to move/shift audio events in a Layer without having to export it to a new track?

Can I move an audio event from one layer to another? It's too difficult to put into words why I ask because I'm typically responded to with advice or "why would you need to?" rather than a straight up answer. However, this is a very basic need to move an audio clip/event from one Layer to another and even adjust where it appears in the timeline. I can't seem to do this at all in S1, but I can easily do this in other DAW's by merely click-dragging the clip/event to wherever (another layer/lane or even new track). Have I missed a key-stroke or some way this can be done?

Yes you can.

1. Select F3 to access the Split Tool.  Then create an Event which defines the section of audio which you want to move.

2. To create an Event: Set the cursor over the beginning of the section you want to move and push/release the left mouse button.  Go to the other end of the section you want to move and repeat push/release of left mouse button.

4. Select F1 for the Range Tool.  Move the cursor over the new Event and hold down the left mouse button.

5. Move the Event anywhere you want and then release the mouse button.  Done!

Watch this video to see this in action as well as learn how to “slip” an audio Event.

This guy does some great tutorials on Studio One.  Here is the home page with a list.  I recommend you watch all of them one at a time.

I know I am a few years late, but for anyone who has not figured it out. Go to the Inspector for the instrument selected with layers. Then Deselect "Layers follow events."

If you found out a different way to work around it, I would love to learn it too.

I hope this helps.
