On the hunt for a new audio interface. Can the Presonus ar8 be used as that like their Audiobox interfaces? Also, would going directly into the line ins bypass their mic pre? I have a mic pre I would need to use so I would need their pres completely bypassed.

Thanks!

The PreSonus AR8 (and all AR-series mixers) have a complete 24-bit / 96 kHz audio interface onboard that allows you to record all the input channels and the main mix. The Super Channel cannot be recorded uniquely as this is a summing channel, but its sources can be recorded as part of the Main Mix.

The Line inputs on the AR-series mixers do go through a gain stage, but the preamp itself is bypassed. If you are looking for direct-to-ADC line inputs that bypass the gain control circuit entirely, the follow products feature this style of input: StudioLive Series III mixers (console and rackmount versions), Studio 192, Studio 192 Mobile, Quantum, and Quantum 2.
