Question

What kind of devices require both AVB and POE?  POE adds a good bit to the cost of a switch.  It seems that Presonus switch would hit a better price point without POE.  I would rather have a cheaper alternative to the Motu switch than have another switch that is at the same price as the Motu.  My demo system has a Motu switch in the stage rack, but it would be nice to have an AVB switch at the control surface so that I don't have use WiFi for my laptop or run two CAT5 cables.

Our new EarMix 16M (https://www.presonus.com/products/EarMix-16M) can be powered via PoE as well as other small endpoints.

Surprisingly, in a switch this size, the addition of PoE added very little to the cost. There would have been no real difference in price.

As companies such as Netgear and Cisco continue making more AVB switches we expect to see smaller, more affordable alternatives available on the market. In the meantime, our SW5E should fulfill the majority of use cases for our users.
