hi fellow users, I have connected my guitar straight through my PODHD500 into the computer, the sound is fine and can record. Able to use Ampire, so that the connection is all good.

I was just wondering how are we, or are we able to make our guitar sound like other instruments?

I would like to write a piano piece, but record it through the guitar.

You would need to use an Envelope Follower that can map the filter to the incoming sound to control elements of virtual instruments. It's more of an experimental sound than a direct guitar string to MIDI note translation.

If you want to compose music with piano sounds (Mai-Tai, Presence, or any other virtual instrument) and use a guitar as your controller, you'd need to get a Guitar MIDI interface that adapts the guitar of your choice to send MIDI messages like a MIDI Keyboard would. Roland and a host of other companies make such products and work pretty well. You'll need to play it in your head since the latency of even a few milliseconds can throw you off.
