I am a voiceover / narrator guy.  I don't do music.  I have used Studio One Artist for 13 months.  No problems.  Today, it stopped working.  No recent Windows updates or any others. No changes have been made in the hardware setup.  I was attempting to run SO3 Artist with no other apps running.  After each "hang," I needed Task Manager to kill the session.  There are no error messages.  Today, I twice uninstalled SO3 and re-installed it.  No change.  What do I do now?

Environment:

Studio One 3.5.1.43560  Win x64 built 23Jun2017

Windows 10 Home

Version 10.0.17134 Build 17134

x64-based PC

LENOVO ThinkPad E550

Processor Intel Core i3-5005U CPU @ 2.00GHz, 1995 Mhz, 2 Cores, 4 Logical Processors

Memory 4.0 GB

USB Interface Steinberg UR22mkII, 24 bit / 192 khz

I need your help.  My production has completely stopped.  Please let me know if you need additional information.

Hi Bob,

There is not enough information in this post to give you a direct answer as to why this is happening, mostly because this would be system-related.  I will create a support ticket for you, so that you can send us an .nfo file from your system and give us a little more information.  You can access your support ticket from your email as well as from your my.presonus.com account.  In your account, just click on the "Support" tab.

Here are a few ideas as to what can create this issue:

1.  Your anti-virus software could be the issue.  Try disabling or uninstalling.

2.  You could have a 3rd-party app in your startup tray for Windows that is latching onto your ASIO driver for your device.  Try disabling all startup items and reboot your machine.  This can be done in the Windows Task Manager.

3.  Your User Data folder for Studio One could be the issue.  Go into Studio One>Options>Locations>User Data and verify that your user data folder is not set to a location that is being backed up by any cloud solution or backup system.  Also make sure that you are not trying to write to a location that is inside of your Program Files folder as the UAC in Windows can conflict.

4.  Re-install the driver for your audio device.  If your device does not have an ASIO driver, you may try using ASIO4all, although it is not technically supported.  This would resolve any issues with Windows Audio.

Again, we will send a ticket your way to get this ironed out for you.
