Question

Is there a way that I can just highlight the beginning/end of my clips and hit one key to set the fade as long as the highlighted region?

As far as I'm aware there is no keyboard shortcut option for normal fades, only creating crossfades.

You can drag the top corner of an event to create a fade. For example, grabbing the top right corner of an event to the left will create a fade out. This way, you can also edit a curve if you want something more than a straight, linear fade.
