How do I solve crackling sound in Eris 4.5 monitors?

Just set up my Eris 4.5 monitors a couple days ago. I'm getting a random crackling sound from the right (passive) monitor. I haven't noticed the sound out of the left monitor. The crackling is random and doesn't increase or decrease in volume with the speakers or correspond with any sound. It's independent of playback and crackles whether the speakers are in use or not (as long as they're turned on it crackles even when no sound is coming out). This happens when listening to music casually from a streaming service as well as when I'm producing and working in a DAW.

I'm running the monitors through a Scarlett 2i2 interface with TRS cables on an iMac with High Sierra. Other than the crackling sound they work great...any suggestions?

Thanks!

I have the same problem. I've had the speakers for about 4 years w/o issue, and this week the left one started acting like the question above. It's really loud, with speaker excursion like I've never seen, even with bass turned to zero and volume on speaker turned to zero. I've tested and now removed all wires except power, and no change. It is completely unusable. I can't believe no one has answered this question from 2018!!
