Question

Can't get SO (rev. 4) to control an E-MU MIDI device through the Studio 26 device: I connect my laptop via USB 2.0 to the Studio 26 recording station. I then try to control my E-Mu Proformance device from the Studio 26's MIDI OUT to the E-Mu's MIDI IN with no luck so far.

 I have no trouble creating MIDI data in SO from a USB keyboard, byt there seem to be no way I can get the control data put into the E-Mu.

I would appreciate any help about how to set-up SO so it can send the MIDI control data via the Studio 26 MIDI OUT to the E-Mu.

I suspect that you've set up an instance of the E-Mu as a MIDI keyboard - which is fine for inputting MIDI data. In order for it to recieve MIDI data, you need to create another instance of the E-Mu as an MIDI instrument in the External Devices set-up page. Then open up a new MIDI track, set the input to the keyboard instance of the E-Mu, and the output to the instrument instance.  Hope this helps. M
