Hi,

I have Studio One Version 2.  For Christmas I received the Kat KTMP1 Multipad.  I am trying to use it in Studio One. I am hooking up the Midi out on the Kat to the Midi input on my AudioBox USB.  I have researched this.  I have been able to add the Kat as an external device.  I can add a new track as an instrument and when I play the Kat I see the record level go up and little dots in the track when I hit a pad.  When I try to do a Transform to Audio in Studio One I get the error that now software is associated with the track. I have also tried to Bounce the track but I do not get any audio.  Any one have any ideas?

I am using a Toshiba Satellite laptop with 12 gb ram, 1 tb disk space, running Windows 10 Home.

Thank you,

Kent

MIDI is just instructional data (no sound). So you need to route the MIDI track to a source that is able to produce sound. If you want to use the sound of the KTMP1 it's a good idea to check this video. If you want the sounds to be played with a VST instrument, you should connect a VST instrument to the Instrument Track.

Thanks Niles,

I viewed the video and tried what you suggest but it still is not working.  My midi device only has an output.  With that being the case I cannot hear the midi sounds, I believe this is correct.  The other piece I may be missing id how to setup the input and outputs for the song.  I added the new keyboard and then a new instrument.  I then choose Song and added a stereo channel but it doesn't seem to help.  I still see the dots for recording from my midi device but I cannot get the audio.  I've also tried doing just the new keyboard and then double click it in externals.  I click the Learn button but nothing happens.  Any other ideas?

Thank you!

I'm not familiar with the KTMP1, when looking at the manual it's clear there's only a MIDI out DIN, however it's not clear if the USB MIDI connection is also MIDI out only or features a MIDI in too. Obviously you need MIDI in to the KTMP1 to trigger its sounds from an Instrument Track (make sure to use MIDI channel 10 btw).

If the USB has a MIDI channel in, you should create an External Instrument instead of a Keyboard Device. External Instruments will show up in the output list of an Instrument track so you can send MIDI data to an External Device.

For the audio you need to connect the KTMP1's audio outputs to the Audiobox instrument inputs and create an Audio Track and set the input to the Audiobox's inputs that are connected to the KTMP1.
