How do I get the automation windows under the piano roll editor to retain configuration when I edit another track?

Here is a video of the behavior. Notice how the automation lanes return to default as I toggle from one instrument to the other.

I also tried setting up a template from scratch and it worked for one set of instruments (Spitfire Chamber Strings) but then reverted to this behavior when I added a patch from HZ Strings. Needless to say this makes editing midi very tedious.
