This is my first pad device so I don't know what to expect. I have tried all Strike Velocity, Pressure Threshold, and Pressure Type setting options on the Atom. There appears to be very little difference.
All pads are very sensitive around the edges and I can tap very softly at the edges to soften the sound output. I appreciate this degree of sensitivity.
Towards the middle of each pad, a harder attack is required and a softer touch produces no sound output where the same amount of force would produce a more controllable sound at the edge of the pad. It seems that playing any instrument at the pad centers requires quite a strong attack and softening the attack simply leads to no sound, unless I move to the edge of the pad.
Is this normal? I am working in Studio One 4.
