Question

This took me a while to work out so I am posting this question and answer as it may help someone else. I was finding that when I was playing my keyboard, multiple instruments (from all tracks) were playing at the same time. This happened even when I was not monitoring the other tracks. Why was this happening? See answer below.

The problem was that I was assigning the direct input to the QWERTY keyboard. All I should be doing is selecting the "cog" icon to open up the QWERTY keyboard, not selecting the QWERTY keyboard as direct input (which is a selection box next to the instrument name at the top of the instrument dialog box).
