Running S1 4.6 through Scarlett 18i8 on Windows 10 64bit. Clicking outside the S1 window stops playback and recording. I don't have the "Release Audio Device In Background" option when I go to S1>Options>Advanced>Audio.
That has been the only solution I have been able to find.
Again, not an option.

Why are you clicking on other windows during a recording?

I can adjust headphone levels using my audio interface's screen without S1 stopping, but would expect it to stop if I try to change the audio configuration (sample rate, for example).

So, what is it you are clicking on?

Does S1 also stop if you click on something in your browser?

@tothrec are you serious? there could be many reasons to click on another window.

My main reason is to change the song that is playing while tracking a live session of drum videos. It's not like when you stop your studio one recording that your video camera is going to stop at the same time, then start filming again as soon as you hit as you hit record again on studio one...

@tothrec When I go to a hardware store and ask a store "specialist" about a certain tool or material he's never heard of, he will invariably ask: "What do you need it for?"  Would he have asked that question if you asked for a hammer or some basic nails? No, because those articles are included in the spectrum of his knowledge.  If you don't know something it's always best to rather than be honest and say "I ain't knowledgeable about this", just turn it on the other person and make it as if their request is ridiculous.

This isn't a ridiculous request!  There are many uses for having to operate two programs without having one stop every time you click outside of it.  Here's one more:  being able to overcome the unfair exclusion of a video editor in the Artist version.  One could watch the video from another program while recording in S1, but S1 takes care that you aren't able to do that.  You also, as was mentioned the original post, cannot enable "Release Audio Device In Background", because it isn't available in the Artist version.

It is quite concerning that basic functionalities are missing from a paid version, like letting the friggin thing play and not forcing it to stop like it's a 1995 program that can do only two things...

Is this ever going to be addressed?  We've been waiting for a few years for a solution for this, S1...  ?
