We have a nice preamp collection at our college studio. Is there a way to bypass the board's preamps but use the board's channel's down line features like eq and compression?

Yes. Use 1/4" Line Input from your preamps into the 64S. When a 1/4" cable is plugged into the combo jack on the 64S, the mixer automatically bypasses the preamp so you only get a digital line gain.
