Quantum instrument preamp controllable from UC?

When I plug a guitar into input 1 on the front panel of my Quantum (TS cable), and activate the "Inst" button, all works as expected: I get a signal from my guitar that I can see on the input channel in my DAW.  But, I notice that, while I can control the gain of the instrument preamp via the gain control knob on the front panel of the Quantum, I cannot control the gain via Universal Control.

I can control all other aspects of the Quantum interface via UC as I would expect (and as documented).

Is it the case that, while the mic preamps are digitally controllable by servos, the instrument preamps are not?  Or, have I missed some way to allow control of the instrument preamp gain from UC (and presumably also MIDI)?

Thanks for any enlightenment!
