Why won’t my PS-49 enter notes in Finale anymore?

I initially had some trouble getting my Music Creation Suite hardware and software functioning properly, but after a lot of time and frustration, I finally had everything working.  This included being able to use the PS-49 with Finale 2014.5 to enter notes in “speedy entry.”  Then, without any changes to my set-up, the next time I tried to use Finale, I couldn't enter notes using the PS-49.  I also get the following message whenever I start-up Finale:  "Default MIDI Output Device; Undefined External Error."  Finale files playback through the Audiobox USB interface, but I can't enter notes with the MIDI keyboard.

I have the same equipment at work and have had no problems.  The (big?) difference is that I have a Windows 7 machine at work and I’m running Windows 10 at home.  I have a hunch that some Windows update(s) messed things up, but I don't know how to figure that out or what to do about it.  I've tried to do a system restore a couple of times and it "did not complete successfully."  It failed while deleting some drivers and an "unspecified error occurred during system restore."  The computer said to try the advanced recovery method, but I'm reluctant to uninstall and re-install Windows (and figure out what other apps and/or files I need to back-up and/or re-install) and would rather avoid that if possible.  I also looked for help on-line, especially about the "Undefined External Error" message and found a few places that suggested modifying the Windows registry and gave the steps to do so.  I dabbled with this a bit, but my machine didn't have the same options that the steps gave, so that was a dead-end too.  I contacted Finale’s tech support and they said, “That error generally means that Finale is receiving some information that it doesn't know what to do with. In this case it'd be a good idea to make sure you have the latest drivers for all MIDI devices--especially the cables and interface--as that'll be the most likely source of the error.”  So, I’ve checked in Device Manager and all of the devices seem to have the latest driver installed.  While checking things out in Device Manager, I did find that all of the relevant hardware had a note in the “Information” box that said they “require further installation.”  I have no idea what that means, but I’m wondering if that has something to do with my problem.  In “Device status,’ all of the items are said to be “working properly.”

My computer is a Dell Inspiron 3847 running Windows 10 Home.  The processor is an Intel Core i3-4150 cpu @3.50Ghz.  It has 8GB RAM and is a 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor.

Here is some specific information from Device Manager for the items under “Sound, video and game controllers”:

Audiobox USB Audio (Driver version 2.18.0.0).  Under the Events tab and in the Information box, there is this message:  Device TUSBAUDIO_ENUM\VID_194F&PID_0302&KS\6&df38c53&2&8 requires further installation.

Audiobox USB Subdevice (Driver version 10.0.10586.0—Same driver information is listed for the PS-49).  Under the Events tab and in the Information box, there is this message:  Device USB\VID_194F&PID_0302&REV_0270&MI_04\6&df38c53&2&8 requires further installation.

PS-49 (Driver version 10.0.10586.0).  Under the Events tab and in the Information box, there is this message:  Device USB\VID_194F&PID_0501&MI_00\6&2820fec1&0&0000 requires further installation.

M-Audio MIDISPORT Uno (Driver version 5.10.0.5141).  Under the Events tab and in the Information box, there is this message:  Device USB\VID_0763&PID_0150&MI_00\7&f97638b&0&0000 requires further installation.

Realtek High Definition Audio (Driver version 6.0.1.7544).  Under the Events tab and in the Information box, there is this message:  Device HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0662&SUBSYS_10280622&REV_1003\4&233ad700&0&0  201 requires further installation.

In addition to “Sound, video and game controllers,” Device Manager also shows “Presonus USB 2.0 Audio Devices.”  Under this tab the AudioBox USB is listed with this message under the Events tab and in the Information box:  Device USB\VID_194F&PID_0302\5&29057cd7&0&8 could not be migrated.  Last Device Instance Id: SB\VID_194F&PID_0302\6&3927503D&0&1

Thanks for your time and assistance!
