I'm upgrading sound equipment in a school.  I connected my SL32 Series III to a 16R for a meeting using a CAT5e wire that is run through walls and it worked great.  I tried that same connection today but using the SW5E and it would not connect.  Using a short CAT5E cable right at the switch worked but not when I used the 200' line that was installed when the building was built 10 years ago.  I knew the risk of using existing wiring which is why I tested (very successfully) point-to-point before purchasing more gear.

I'd appreciate any ideas you my have.
Thanks

You need to ensure all cabling is suitable for AVB audio.

If the installation is old, it might be done for 100Mbit and might only use half of the pairs compared to gigabit standard.

Best option would be to use a good cable tester like Fluke and check if everything is ok. If you can connect computers and get gigabit it should work but there is no guaranty.
