If you can't record audio it's most likely the case that your audio device is not correctly setup for recording on the new system. Go to Song Setup > Audio I/O Setup and make sure that you have created mono and/or stereo inputs for your audio device to use when recording.
If you run a technical situation where after setting up your audio device for audio recording and playback as explained in the reference manual simply doesn't work, and you can't find a solution, make a support ticket describing the issue in detail and explaining what you've done so far... and if possible attach an image of your Audio I/O Setup "Inputs" tab, an image of Options > Audio Setup and an in any of those images also show the track you're attempting to record to.
